The Bellagio Center Convening Program

Convenings at the Bellagio Center bring together leaders from around the world to advance ideas for social impact and catalyze new action and commitments that have the potential to drive positive and far-reaching change. The Center’s serene setting promotes expansive and innovative thinking, and its intimate quarters encourage dynamic small group interactions and focused, goal-oriented work.

The Rockefeller Foundation has a strong interest in convening proposals that align with its mission “to promote the well-being of humanity,” particularly through issues that have a direct impact on the lives of poor and vulnerable populations around the world. These issues include but are not limited to health, economic opportunity and jobs, urban resilience, food and agriculture, clean energy, the field of philanthropy, and innovation for development.

Convening applications are selected through a competitive process and successful applications are provided facilities, accommodations, and some travel support.

Applications are available on our online application portal along with detailed instructions and further information about the Bellagio Conference Program. We strongly recommend that applicants carefully review this information prior to beginning an application.

We will communicate the process to apply for a convening when we begin accepting applications later this year. Thank you for your understanding.

  • For small ideas, you can go to any retreat, but to think expansive, fearless ideas and then design something innovative and courageous to put them into practice, there is no place like Bellagio.

The Bellagio Center operates two separate buildings for convenings, the Frati and the Sfondrata. Each convening will be assigned one of the buildings based on the number of participants. Please note that the number of bedrooms represents the total number of participants we can accommodate per convening in each respective building.

  • The Frati

A 17th-century friary that has been fully modernized. The facility includes 18 bedrooms with private baths, as well as meeting rooms, a dining room, and public informal gathering spaces.
  • The Sfondrata

A 16th-century building, with an adjacent tower of the same period, and a dock house. The facility includes 22 bedrooms with private baths, as well as meeting rooms, a dining room, and public informal gathering spaces.
